These techniques are intended to enrich the chances by improving sperm attributes.

Improving Volume

When there is more semen than sperm, conception is more probable. However, since most sperm is in the first few drops of ejaculation, it may not be able to travel to the uterus. Men with inferior sperm volume are encouraged to withdraw from the vagina just after ejaculation starts.

Filtering

Spun-glass fibers are put into an injection with the sperm, where the sperm has to forcibly  pass through the fibers. In theory, the sperm cells which are already dead should not be able to pass. This is a well experimented formula but with unconfirmed success rates so far.

Spinning

This is now a regular process in any IVF/GIFT-like process. The sperm is separated from the semen by being spun in what is called a centrifuge. This removes the proteins and enzymes that safeguard the sperm's motility, enabling it to enter the petri dish or fallopian tube totally capacitated.
